THE TRUTH BEHIND THE WAR

This war has been the most tragic and the saddest one we have just suffered in human history. We are here today for talking about all the bad consequences and the pain brought to all the families in the  world.

Reporting how this war was it is not something easy; many other  reporters have tried to show the reality of this conflict and were jailed or arrested, such as Philip Gibbs who had conflicts with the press' censorship.

Beyond the terrorific event this war has been, the human lifes that we have lost are such an impressive number you won't believe it's true.

Russia: 9,150,000 deaths.
German Empire: 7,150,000 deaths.
Autria-Hungary Empire: 7,020,000 deaths.
France: 6,160,000 deaths.
Great Britain: 3,190,000 deaths.
Italy: 2,197,000 deaths.
USA: 326,000 deaths.

                             THE POPULATION

This demographic pyramid allows us to see how the Great War affected the population in France. We can apreciate clearly that between the years 1880-1900 there is a blank space in the left (men) side, due to the losts of lifes during this war. Further more, we can see that between the years 1910-1920, there is an income in both women and men, that is because the birthless rate during the war.

THE DARK SIDE

This war has been the first war in which chemical weapons were used. This caused a devastation in all Europe and left us with images that are hard to see.
German people were the first ones in studying and developing these weapons, in order to use them in a large scale. Fritz Haber was the scientist who studied this gases. They were used at first in the Battle of Ypres.

The shrapnel leaves it's mark. And indeed it does. If we go back to the Great War, the images will leave you speechless. The disfigured faces, victims of shrapnel and seasoned with infections, evolved medicine in this field.

  5. I really like this news and the topic you have chosen. The information is correct and you talk about many topics in the same news that is very good. I liked that you put a demographic pyramid to represent the population that there was in France before, during and after the war. Also the links are good and lead to pages that give you more information about chemical weapons and things like that, the video also expresses what was the war and terror that the people suffered. The data of the deaths is incredible, too many, and few people know how many people died in this war, the proof of how hard that war was is this data. You don’t have the paper version because of computer problems, but I’m sure you will do as well as the rest, congratulations!

  7. A war is always devastating news. In this article you have treated the topic correctly, avoiding data that may impact the reader. The demographic pyramid of France is an example of the terrible consequences of a conflict. Also, I find the part that talks about chemical weapons striking. The video is quite hard although it explains the reality during the war years.

  9. I like the news and the way you decided tell us the truth about that terrible war. It has very good information, suchs as the number of deaths or the details. The demographic pyramid allow us see what the war really made and talk about the chemical weapons and what they made is very important, because in my case I Will never understand how people could invent something like that and use it against other people doing so much damage. I only think you could add more information.

  11. Great job boys and girls! Your article is so good and for me, the number os deaths during the war is very, very spooky, and it is amazing how clearly it is seen in the pyramide. The video about the chemical weapons explains very well what was it, but it would be better if you had choosen han English video. The worst thing you talk about is the shrapnel, it is horrible. And the last video is a good election because it is not too long. Congratulations for your article!
