 TORRICELLI INVENTS THE BAROMETER

THE LAST WEEK EVANGELISTA TORRICELLI SHOWED THAT THE AIR HAS WEIGHT

This physicist and mathematician at the University of Pisa and born on October 15, 1608 in Faenza discovered after a long work the BAROMETER.

To do this, he used the mercury by ascending it in a tube, creating a vacuum in the upper part, pushed by the weight of the air in the atmosphere. So he showed that the air has weight.

The barometer is used to measure atmospheric pressure or barometric pressure, that is, to measure the pressure in an open vessel and also to calculate the height of the mountains.

Torricelli's theorem is an application of Bernoulli's principle and studies the flow of a liquid contained in a container, through a small hole, under the action of gravity.
Over time we will discover if this Galileo Galiley student, a student educated at Benedetto Castelli and now a PhD supervisor, makes this invention one of the most important of the time.

  1. I like the prhase with the one you ended the new and the photos you choosed as well. But I think that the tittle could have been more striking as you are informing about a great invention.I also think it could have been a good idea to link a video about how the barometer works. In general it´s a good job!

  2. The news is well written and full of good information. But in my opinion I would add more hyperlinks and add captions in the photos to make out the photo meaning. So in conclusion it´s a fine work and the paper version is well done

  3. In general I liked the news, thanks to it I learned how to use the barometer, but I do not understand very well the Bernoulli´s principle, I think it is a bit badly explained, but very well!

  4. I liked this news to much because it's very complete, but I think they need to put more links explaining some concepts

  5. I think this post is very well written and I´ve liked it very much in a general way refering to the redaction and the order, as I also think the images help to understand. About the contents, I think it´s complete but I would´ve added some more links to help the explanation, as well as I had explained briefly Bernoulli's principle to understand better that paragraph, but, except for that, I think it´s okay.

  6. In my opinion it is well explained despite the fact that the news is not very extensive, it is also understood quite good.

  7. The concept behind the news is really interesting, the problem is that some parts need a longer explanation, principally the Bernoulli's principle that is a bit confusing, the images are well and help but maybe some more links would make it easier.

  9. Hello!! Your news is not bad, but I think you could make a bigger effort next time. It is evident that you could do something better. You have some gramatical mistakes and you didn´t link videos or interesting pages. The paper version is not very well designed.

    Your mark is 6,75.
