50 YEARS OF MYSTERY
Can you find the murderer?

Today, December 30th 1920, we look backward to El Turco street,
where fifty years ago took place the mysterious murder of General Prim. The facts
still situate us on one of the strangest crimes in all the spanish history.
His death caused a weakness in the government of Amadeo of Saboy and led
into his abdication. Let's review the events.
Everything happened in a cold winter afternoon. Prim was
travelling to the congress when suddenly a catastrophe took place. An unknown
group of people was getting closer to his carriage with clear intentions:
willing to everything to end with his life. It occured very fast, according to the witnesses, they entered in the chariot when it stopped, and
started shooting. He got injured on his left arm and immediately
transported to his house in Madrid, where a doctor took care of him, but it was
too late.
Prim had died apparently due to the bullet wounds. However,
there is a second theory supported by scientific studies which have discovered
that Prim could have died by a breath constriction after the
assault.

Although 50 years have passed, it remains the doubt of who killed
him. On one hand, as Prim wanted Spain to be a constitutional and parliamentary
monarchy, he gained the republicans' hostility. Also Prim did not want a
Bourbon to be the government head and Duke Montpensier believed himself
worthy of the crown, so Prim gained more enemies. The main suspect was Francisco Serrano, who wanted to be King of Spain but Prim wanted a foreign king
and refused to trust Serrano despite having spent a lifetime working together,
but... who do you think is responsible for this mysterious murder?

I like very much how you have introduced the news and its content. From my point of view the two theories of his death are very well explained. The images seem correct to me and the video too. For me it is a very interesting point in our history.

Hi guys, your article is very good because you have choose an interesting topic, and in your article you told the story making the reader impatient to discover who is the murder, so that makes the reader not to think about your news as a boring one. The information is so nice but you have a misspelling error ( Savoy, not Saboy), some links don´t work. You also should looked for an English video, not an Spanish one.

For me this news is very well worked. The bad things is that I think that should have another organization and the video could be in english. The things you have done best is that the news has very good grammar and is appropriate to understand everything perfectly, I also like very much that the links lead to other pages that tell you very well the biography of each person that participate in this strange death and the video seems very good and safe because the information is told by a man who is an expert on this topic. Finally I found it very curious that there are two theories about Prim’s death and that still after so long it is not known how exactly he died.

I Found this notice very long for what does it says, but appart fron this, i find really interesting, but i don´t really understand the part of the breath constriction.

The new is well organised but I think it could be a bit summarized. Apart from that the topic is really interesting and the video explains it very well, although it would be much better if it were in English.

For me, it´s a very interesting and well written article with good links. I like the way you made it leaving us in suspense about who could have killed Prim. I also like the way you explain the two theories which made me think about which of the two is the real one and who could have been the real murderer.

I like the point of view you give to the article is quite original and I am interested in the topic so I have enjoy the job and the video explains perfectly the situation (sadly is in Spanish). Very good job is one of the best articles of this unit but you should add more links with information.

For me, is a good news although it has too much information. I would have avoided some data so that the article isn't so heavy. In the digital format, the separation between lines is irregular just like the letters, besides the text is attached to the photos, which doesn't make it attractive. The video helps to understand the event but it's in Spanish.

Good article, it is well written and has the enough information. I like how it moved to the past to introduce the story. It was a interesting and suspect murder that it had to carry out by an enemy of General Prim. If we had been at this time, we would have solve the murder and it wouldn´t be a mystery.

Very interesting article, In my opinion is one of the best articles written. The facts are really interesting as it leaves the doubt of who has murdered General Prim, thre are also good links and a video that, in spite of being in spanish, it's a good and interenting video.
ReplyDeleteThis article seems to me very interesting, you have chosen a very interesting theme. It is a little long but you have narrated it perfectly and it is understood very well. I found it very interesting that the general might die from a respiratory constriction, I had never imagine it! I liked the explanation of the theories, it made me feel dubious about the true answer, I think that you have done a really good work with this news. My opinion of the video is good because its interesting, but in Spanish instead of English. About the paper version, it’s pretty organised and I like it a lot.

Really good article. Well organized and written. The use of English is so good. The information is interesting as it is an important part of our history, even we still don't know who did it. But the photos make difficult to read as they block the thread of the history being so close to the information. The rest is really good. Congratulations!
