DIDEROT NEWS: UNIT 4

THE BAKUNIN-MARX SPLIT END WITH THE INTERNATIONAL

The inequalities and differences among marxists and anarchists has ended with the International. ¿Is there going to be a second one?

Our reporters have visited St Martin´s Hall two hours ago, we have talked with some member and in conclusion, due to the wide variety of philosophies present in the First International, there was conflict from the start, the conflict has been increaing all that time and the bomb has explote.

The first objections to Marx's influence came from the mutualists, (who opposed communism and statism) but even with the mutualists facing marxists, Marx and Bakunin became the figureheads of two different camps: Marxists and Anarchists respectively.
But they did not agree in anything, perhaps the clearest differences between the groups emerged over their proposed strategies for achieving the elimination of the class-based society and  the establishment of a communist society:
Marchists wanted to achieve this goal through the class struggle in which the working-class would gain political power for establish then a proletariat dictatorship and they would finally to impose a communist society and economy.
On the other hand, anarchists would achieve it through individual freedom in which they would fight against any authority or institution that limited individual freedom by means of terrorists attacks, they would be organised into independent communes without a state or any political party.

The anarchists grouped around Bakunin favoured, in Peter Kropotkin´s words "direct economical struggle against capitalism, without interfering in the political parliamentary agitation" and Marxist thought was focused on parliamentary activity.

We have had the pleasure to talk with Marx, the leader of the marxists, here you have a short interview:

REPORTER: Good morning Marx! Thank you for giving us some minutes. Well, what is your opinion about the end of the International?

MARX: Good morning! It is a pleasure. To be honest, I expected it be because the differences between Bakunin and me were obvious.

REPORTER: Can you talk about that differences? Just the most important ones.

MARX: Ha ha ha, one day we had the greatest discussion, we were talking about the establishment of the proletariat dictatorship; I supported this measure because if our purpose is to end with the class-based society, the first step is to take the power and then make and equal society. But Bakunin said that if we take the power we wouldn´t leave it because is a very good advantage.

REPORTER: Don´t you think that maybe Bakunin was right?

MARX: Perhaps, but we won´t know it now.

REPORTER: Okey, that´s true ha ha ha. I hope to see you soon Marx.

MARX: Me too! Goodbye!

REPORTER : Bye!

  1. Hello!! I find very interesting the links like the videos on the words "Marxist", "anarchist" and "proletariat dictatiorship". The dialogue helps to understand the news and gives a different point of view. I miss some photos and the webpage so we can gain more information but i inderstand the topic can not be supported with a lot of pictures. I like the article althougt it was a bit confusing.

  2. This new is nice but I think you could've dont further much better there are too many links that are unnecessary. The interview concept is nice and original but it's very short. You can improve it but it's nice. Greetings!

  3. It seems to me a news that is well written but is ordered in a very boring way and it becomes a bit tedious to read it. The images seem rather scarce since there is only one.

  4. In my opinion, it is an original article, may be it is too short but explained so well the differences between anarchism and communism. I don´t like too much the pictures that you chose and it has unnecessary links but the paper version it´s nice.

  5. This news explains very well the concepts of Marxism, Anarchism and everything related to them. It is well written and includes many links to complete the information and facilitate its understanding. I think the dialogue is a great idea and I would like you to have included it in the paper version instead of mentioning it in a strange way.

  6. Hi, I think this news is missing photos and a video to support the explanation and help you understand everything better. I think there were better things to put on this subject and much more important than the conversation with Marx, since it occupies half the news and it was better to put another type of data. For me to read this it becomes complicated because I do not like the presentation and the appearance is that it is all the time information, without making entries to each theme or anything. The rest is fine, it has many links that are important and I also really liked the organization of the paper version. On the other hand, I do not agree with the ideas of Marx or Bakunin.

  7. I really liked the way to focus this news, especially the short interview and the images, very organized and easy to read but on the other hand it would be nice if there was a video to reflect all that content.

  8. In my opinion, the article is well redacted and it has lots of links, although some of them are from wikipedia and it's not always a very reliable web, but the videos were nice: shorts, good explanations and in english. I think you could have made the interview a bit longer. However, it was the part that I understood the most because the rest of the article was a bit confusing for me. The paper version is good, but I think you shouldn't have put the last phrase because in that year, there was no Internet.

  9. It is an original article cause of the inclusion of an interview. However, you have some misspellings and writing mistakes, but your mark is 9.

  10. In my opinion, it is original, but you could put more photos to make the article more attractive and entertaining (Although the photo you put is really funny). All the links help you to expand the information of the ideologies (like “mutualism” and “statism”, that I didn’t know what mean), and also the videos in the links because they where short and well explained. I liked the explication of the differences and the characteristics of the International in the first part of the article. I also like the originality of the interview, but I think that there isn’t too interesting and so short.

About the paper version, from my point of view, it’s okey, but you could resume the interview with Marx to make it more complete.

  11. In general, the article is well written. The information and links help to understand the differences between marxism and anarchism, although the news is so extensive that it is a bit heavy. The interview to Marx is interesting but his answers seem superficial to me. In the paper version I would add more photos.

  12. I think that it´s excelent news which explains the differences between both parts clearly. However, there are too many links that in my opinion aren´t necessary; the interview was an original idea but I miss more photos. Good job.

  13. The article is nice and original because it explains the differences between anarchism and marxism in a different way. There are too many links and few photos even though the video is really nice as it completes the information of the notice.

  14. Hi, I like the article and I found interesting the interview, but I think that you have explained the beginnig of the article in a bit boring way and without any interesting information, you only talk about the differences between marxists and anarchists. You also could add more images. The links for me are quite good and they help you to understand better the concepts, suchh as statism.

  15. Hi guys! Well to start with, I have to tell you that the topic you have choosen is quite original; but I also think it can give much more of itself,so you did not seize the idea enough. I also missed some video to support your content and the paper version is improvable.
